How much meaning do you place on your date of birth?

Today is my birthday, but it is not the day of my birth. I have no recollection of that precise date, but this day is the day that the people of Fontaine decided my birthday would be celebrated on.
[A pause.]
It seemed important to them that they have a date upon which to mark it. I found no need to object, though I never fully understood the insistence.
